Asian stock markets are showing mixed performance this Tuesday (21), with investors assessing the impacts of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, the advance of new trade tariffs announced by the United States, and the rise in oil prices. Midway through the session, some exchanges are posting significant gains, while others remain pressured by the environment of global uncertainty.

The main highlight of the session is Japan's Nikkei 225, which is up 1,74%, trading near 65.255,68 points. The Japanese index maintains a positive trajectory, supported by the appreciation of shares of major companies and by investors' greater appetite for local assets, despite concerns related to international trade.

In South Korea, the upward movement is even stronger. The Kospi rises 3,14%, reaching 6.721,10 points during the session. The appreciation is driven by the main companies listed on the South Korean stock exchange, placing the index among the best performances in the Asian region this Tuesday.

In the opposite direction, some exchanges are posting losses. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng falls 0,46%, trading near 25.027,20 points, while the Shanghai index shows a decline of 0,15%, at 3.790,426 points.

In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 is also trading lower, down 0,22%, near 8.771,60 points. The movement reflects a more cautious stance by investors in the face of risks involving new trade barriers and possible impacts on the global economy.

Risk aversion increased after statements by United States President Donald Trump about possible consequences against Iran following the death of three American military personnel. At the same time, the Houthi militants in Yemen announced measures against maritime transport involving Saudi Arabia, raising concerns about possible impacts on the global flow of energy.

In addition to the geopolitical scenario, markets are following the new trade announcements from the White House. The American government confirmed an additional tariff of 50% on certain products imported from Canada, alleging trade practices considered unfavorable to the United States.

Trump also signed three proclamations that raise tariffs on motor vehicles, alcoholic beverages, and Canadian dairy products. The measures increase investors' concern about a possible intensification of trade disputes and their effects on global economic growth.

With the trading session still underway, Asian markets continue reacting to upcoming developments in trade negotiations, oil prices, and the international political scenario.
