PAX Gold (PAXG) is a token backed by physical gold: ideally, each PAXG represents one fine troy ounce of a London Good Delivery bar. The tokens are backed by gold held in custody by Paxos Trust Company, in professional vault facilities.

Gold backing and custody rights

By holding PAXG, the user has rights related to the corresponding gold held in custody. As the asset represents physical gold, its value tends to track the price of gold in the real-time market.

Use as a tokenized asset with digital flexibility

PAXG combines the idea of ownership of specific bars with the agility of a digital asset. This allows fractional participation in gold bars while maintaining the link to the corresponding physical metal.

Conversions on the platform and reduction of operational risks

On the Paxos platform, it is possible to convert PAXG into allocated gold, unallocated gold, or fiat currency, and also carry out the reverse path. The objective is to simplify processes and reduce exposure to settlement risk.
