Metaplanet resumed its Bitcoin purchase strategy after three months without new acquisitions and added another 2.823 BTC to its corporate treasury. With the transaction, the Japanese company closed the second quarter of 2026 with a total of 43.000 Bitcoin in its treasury, maintaining its plan to significantly expand its exposure to the market’s leading digital asset.

To complete the purchase, the company spent approximately 35,89 billion yen, equivalent to about US$ 222 million. The average price paid was slightly more than 12,7 million yen per unit, below the company’s historical average cost, helping reduce the average acquisition value of its entire reserve.

Before the new transaction, Metaplanet held 40.177 BTC at the end of March. Now, with 43.000 Bitcoin in its portfolio, the company reported that its average acquisition cost fell from 15,51 million to approximately 15,3 million yen per coin.

Since the beginning of its accumulation strategy, the company has invested about 659 billion yen to build its Bitcoin position. In addition to the purchases, Metaplanet reported that it generated revenue close to US$ 10,95 million, equivalent to about 1,747 billion yen, through its Bitcoin income-generating operations during the second quarter.

After deducting this revenue from the acquisitions made during the period, the effective cost of the transaction fell to about 34,14 billion yen, which represents approximately 12,093 million yen per Bitcoin acquired.

Despite the new purchase, the company is still far from its main objective. The target announced by the company is to reach a reserve of 100.000 BTC by the end of 2026. To do so, it will need to acquire another 57.000 Bitcoin in the coming months.

While expanding its reserves, Metaplanet is facing a period of pressure in the stock market. The company’s shares have accumulated a decline of about 49% since the beginning of the year, indicating that the growth of its Bitcoin position has still not been enough to boost the stock’s performance.

In parallel with its accumulation strategy, the company continues to expand its business in the financial sector. Metaplanet announced the acquisition of the Japanese brokerage Siiibo Securities in a transaction valued at approximately US$ 13 million. After the completion of the deal, scheduled for July, the institution will operate under the name Metaplanet Securities.

CEO Simon Gerovich described the acquisition as the company’s first major corporate purchase and stated that it represents the first step of Project Nova, an initiative created to develop a Bitcoin-based financial ecosystem in Japan.
