- LG launches blockchain using Arbitrum technology for advertising.
- ARB token rises 5% after LG announcement.
- Blockchain Arbitrum expands corporate adoption in the market.
The ARB token, native to the Arbitrum network, rose more than 5% after news broke that LG Electronics is developing a new blockchain based on the technology of Ethereum's leading layer 2 solution.
The information revealed that the South Korean giant chose Arbitrum's infrastructure to build a network focused on the digital advertising and media sector. This initiative marks another step by LG in its strategy of adopting blockchain technologies for business applications.
The new network was created to support activities such as buying, selling, distributing, and managing digital ads. The goal is to use on-chain records to increase the transparency of operations and improve the efficiency of advertising campaign management.
Furthermore, the platform will allow for the storage of data related to user interaction with advertisements and the maintenance of a shared database between advertisers and publishers. The model aims to reduce inconsistencies in the digital advertising market and increase the traceability of information.
Although the project does not yet have an officially released name, the network was developed by LG's blockchain research lab. Initial tests were conducted in partnership with a Japanese advertising agency, whose identity has not been revealed.
This move reinforces LG's track record in the sector. In recent years, the company launched the Monachain enterprise blockchain through LG CNS, its information technology services division. The company also developed the Wallypto digital wallet and participated in initiatives related to payments with artificial intelligence agents using deposit tokens in experimental programs of the Bank of Korea.
LG also operated the Art Lab NFT marketplace, initially launched on the Hedera blockchain and later expanded to Ethereum. The project was shut down in 2025, reflecting a decline in corporate interest in the digital collectibles segment.
The announcement also highlights the growing competition between Ethereum scalability platforms. While LG opted for Arbitrum, other large companies are following similar paths. Sony, for example, developed the Soneium blockchain using Optimism's technology for applications related to entertainment and intellectual property management.
Considered one of the leading Layer 2 Ethereum networks, Arbitrum uses optimistic rollup technology to reduce costs and accelerate transactions. The growth in institutional adoption continues to be closely monitored by investors, who see new corporate use cases as potential catalysts for the ecosystem and the performance of the ARB token.
