A Samsung, one of the world's leading technology companies and one of the smartphone giants, announced that it has partnered with Cardano-based blockchain platform Veritree to combat the adverse effects of climate change.
According to the South Korean company's official announcement on its website, Samsung Electronics America is launching a new project aimed at working towards a healthier climate and planet.
The company said it will mobilize the growth and conservation of more than two million trees in the territory of Madagascar by the end of the first quarter of this year.
The initiative will take place in partnership with a platform called Veritree, which is precisely focused on climate solutions based on blockchain, providing nature-based solutions leveraging blockchain technology in conjunction with on-premises data capture. Mark Newton, director of Samsung, commented on the partnership.
Investing in technological innovations, such as those that create efficiency improvements and minimize waste, in combination with nature-based solutions, are vital in combating climate change,” said Newton.
The project uses the Cardano blockchain to perform at its best, which, incidentally, was also definite by the Head of Brand and Communication at Fundação Cardano, Sidney Vollmer.
Building on our history of open collaboration, we're partnering with Veritree for the Tree Planting Initiative as an additional way to contribute to a better global society,” commented Newton of the Veritree partnership.
Reforestation is one of the best ways to combat climate change. By collaborating with Veritree, eco-conscious brands like Samsung that aim to do good for our planet rather than just do less damage, can have accurate ground-level data on the impact of planting trees.” Derrick Emsley, co-founder and CEO of Veritree.
