According to the company, markets such as South Korea, Japan and Singapore combine strong adoption of digital finance with progressive regulation, offering fertile ground for crypto innovation.
These factors, combined with active developer communities, position APAC as a protagonist in applied research and the adoption of distributed accounting technologies.
In South Korea, the partnership with Korea University was renewed for six years and US$1,1 million, supporting studies on block sharding, zero-knowledge proof-based privacy and devices dedicated to cryptofinance.
The agreement consolidates a relationship that began in 2018 and expands opportunities for local researchers working on the scalability and security of blockchain networks.
Japan will continue to be highlighted with new resources for Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo, whose combined UBRI contributions exceed US$1,5 million.
The two institutions investigate use cases in decentralized payments and on-chain governance models, in addition to promoting specialized courses for engineering and digital economy students.
In Singapore, more than US$3 million will go to Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National University of Singapore.
“With our current grant, we are developing an autonomous network of AI agents on the XRP Ledger to create a transparent, modular, accessible, and collaborative platform using blockchain technology.
We believe this innovation will be instrumental in shaping the future of AI,” said NTU Professor Yang Liu.
Taiwan joins the network with the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, which will research real-world asset tokenization and interoperability between XRP Ledger, Ethereum and Solana, including regulatory requirements for capital inflows and outflows.
In Australia, the Australian National University and Victoria University will receive US$1,3 million to advance legal studies on digital payments and to test Evernode, a layer 2 smart contract solution.
With 60 universities integrated globally, UBRI now has 13 partners in APAC alone, signaling Ripple’s intention to build a solid academic foundation for enterprise applications in blockchain, AI and decentralized systems that can scale on the XRP Ledger and beyond.
