Frax Staked frxUSD (SFRXUSD) is a stablecoin that seeks to generate onchain yield through a “yield” model integrated into the token. Implemented as an ERC4626 token, SFRXUSD is redeemable for frxUSD at an increasing rate related to the yield generation mechanism.

How conversion and redemption work

SFRXUSD is fully redeemable for frxUSD according to the increase proportional to the yield. The token does not rebase, and redemption can be made for the underlying asset with no unstaking fee and no price impact.

Yield strategy with a reference rate

SFRXUSD’s yield design targets a reference rate by alternating between three governance-approved approaches. These approaches involve carry trade, Algorithmic Market Operations (AMOs), and the Interest on Reserve Balances/T-Bill (IORB) rate.

With this, SFRXUSD seeks to maintain a competitive APY within the onchain environment by adjusting the strategy according to the protocol’s logic.

What it is used for in the ecosystem

As a yield-bearing stablecoin, Frax Staked frxUSD is suited for those who use tokens backed by stablecoins and want exposure to the yield mechanism. It connects to the Yield-Bearing Stablecoin universe and the Ethereum Ecosystem through the ERC4626 standard.
