Siacoin (SC) is a project focused on decentralized cloud storage, with a proposal similar to centralized providers such as Dropbox. Instead of renting space from a single company, clients hire storage from other network participants, with transactions enabled by blockchain.

How storage works on Siacoin

The platform uses the blockchain network to record and facilitate storage contracts between provider nodes and users. Before storing the data, the information is encrypted into parts and distributed among different hosts, helping to structure the storage process.

Technology and smart contracts

Siacoin's goal is to organize storage transactions with smart contracts, making the recording and execution of the service dependent on the network. The project is open source, which allows contributions from different people to the software and encourages the formation of a community around the application of the Sia API.

Project goals and evolution
