SaucerSwap is a decentralized exchange protocol in the Hedera ecosystem, aimed at offering trading focused on censorship resistance, security, and self-custody. The system uses a set of non-upgradable smart contracts, seeking to reduce operational risks and preserve the protocol's governance.

Technology and network

SaucerSwap uses the Hedera Token Service (HTS) to support high performance and fees in a low-cost structure, denominated in dollars. Hedera's architecture also contributes to transaction ordering considered fair in the protocol, which reduces the possibility of MEV attacks associated with some models on networks like Ethereum.

How it works in practice

The protocol exists in two versions. SaucerSwap V1 uses a constant product AMM model, while V2 adds concentrated liquidity to improve capital efficiency.

In the DeFi ecosystem, these approaches organize liquidity pools and enable asset swaps via smart contracts, keeping the operation based on the protocol's rules.

Functions of the SAUCE token

SAUCE is SaucerSwap's native token and acts in governance, enabling holders to participate in the DAO and vote on proposals such as protocol upgrades and incentive alignment. In addition, the token is used to incentivize liquidity, under the control of the Masterchef, in V1 and V2.

SAUCE can also be used in staking, allowing holders to receive a portion of trading fees, rewards related to HBAR staking, and emissions through an automated buyback mechanism.
