Populous (PPT) is a peer-to-peer invoice platform focused on accounts receivable financing. It uses distributed ledger technology to enable global invoice finance trading, allowing future sales values to be converted into liquidity more quickly.

What invoice finance is used for

At Populous, participating companies use the invoice finance model to advance cash tied to outstanding invoices. In general, business owners authorize invoice buyers to acquire these documents at a discount to release capital more quickly.

When the debtor pays the invoice, the invoice buyer receives the previously agreed amount. This structure seeks to expand access to operations that can serve various segments, including areas that are not always covered by traditional financing.

How the liquidity infrastructure works

To provide funds to invoice sellers, Populous maintains a Liquidity Pool connected to the PPT token ecosystem. In system operations, PPT is used as a reference and supports the collateral mechanism throughout the process.

Participants can securitize PPT through an initial purchase and keep it in escrow as collateral. Transactions involve Pokens, which are exchanged for PPT and used as currency to buy and sell invoices, helping to form the Liquidity Pool.

Costs, tokens, and the use of PPT

With the built-in liquidity component, Populous does not require transaction fees in the described process. The charges mentioned are related to late payments.

The PPT tokens that were not released during the ICO were retained by the founding and development team. PPT can be held or used as collateral to enable participation in invoice investments, with Pokens defined based on a percentage of the market value.
