Pepecoin (PEP) is a community-focused Layer 1 cryptocurrency, created to preserve the spirit of Dogecoin, with a focus on fun and collective participation. The project was developed from an origin linked to the Dogecoin ecosystem, with the proposal of forming a new group with its own identity.

Purpose and community

Pepecoin emerged with a central objective: to create a new and fun community, inspired by the dynamics that marked Dogecoin in its early days. Therefore, its positioning is strongly associated with social use and the engagement of its participant base.

Technology and mining

The network uses scrypt and is merge minable with other scrypt-based coins. Among the networks mentioned in the protocol are Litecoin and Dogecoin, with merge mining starting from block 100,000.

Launch and distribution

Pepecoin was fairly launched, with no premine, no preallocation, and no ICO as described. This launch model seeks to avoid advance allocations and make participation more open to the community.
