Maverick Protocol (MAV) is a DeFi infrastructure focused on improving the sector's efficiency, powered by the Maverick AMM. The core proposal is to simplify liquidity management by allowing users to choose a movement mode that adjusts liquidity for them.

How Maverick AMM works

In Maverick AMM, the logic eliminates complex operational steps by moving liquidity according to the selected mode. The protocol also offers customized liquidity distributions, in addition to features such as fee auto-compounding.

There is also the possibility of modeling liquidity with Liquidity Shaping using Boosted Positions. The system includes native LST support with a price tracking function and protocol support.

What the MAV token is used for

MAV is the native utility token of the Maverick ecosystem, primarily focused on governance. Participation takes place via a Voting Escrow (ve) contract, in which the user can stake MAV to receive veMAV.

Governance structured with veMAV seeks to concentrate voting power in those who maintain commitment to the ecosystem. The longer the MAV staking period, the greater the amount of veMAV received and the corresponding voting power tends to be.

History and cross-network presence

Maverick launched Maverick AMM on Ethereum Mainnet in March 2023, then on zkSync Era in April 2023 and, next, on BNB Chain in June 2023. The project recorded relevant participation in trading volume and reached the top among DEXs by volume on different networks.

Among the milestones, the protocol surpassed other benchmarks to position itself as a leader in wstETH trading volume. In ecosystems such as the Ethereum Ecosystem and the ZkSync Ecosystem, the expansion seeks to broaden the application of the AMM and governance contracts.

Next steps

As a planned evolution, Maverick expected launches of Voting Escrow and Governance contracts in Q3 of 2023. Features such as Boosted Pool Voting and expansion of the AMM to more chains were also considered, subject to DAO votes.

For H1 2024, support for MAV via LayerZero on more networks was planned, also dependent on DAO approval.
