Geode Chain (GEODE) is an independent layer 1 with a native suite of decentralized applications aimed at making the crypto ecosystem more accessible for everyday use. The proposal combines a base network and on-chain tools for interactions and services in different formats.

Technology and how the network works

Geode Chain was built with the Substrate/Polkadot SDK. For consensus, it uses Nominated Proof of Stake with BABE and has separate finality via GRANDPA.

At layer 1, the network was designed to support 1000 transactions per second, with expanded capacity when layer 2 chains are added. Fees tend to be low and finalization takes 6 seconds.

What Geode Chain is used for

As Layer 1 (L1), Geode Chain provides the infrastructure for native decentralized applications, including social features, messaging, and search and utility services. With this, the goal is to facilitate the creation of and access to on-chain products.

It also connects to the concept of Appchains by allowing the expansion of capabilities with additional chains, while maintaining an experience aimed at everyday users.

Decentralized applications in the ecosystem

Geode’s native dApp suite includes Social, with ads that pay the user and algorithm-free feeds, as well as encrypted Private Messages with disappearing messages. There is also a P2P Market for buying and selling, with an affiliate program and an offering of products and services.

Other tools include profiles and work, records and IP, polls, DNS, search and cross-chain research with saved favorites, as well as AI User Agents for navigation and operation across chains. The ecosystem also includes decentralized games with AI-driven dynamics on the blockchain.
