Buttcoin, with ticker BUTTCOIN, emerged as a memecoin created to satirize the Bitcoin universe. Instead of proposing a new network from the outset, the idea was to use the joke to comment on and provoke, in a context prior to the boom of NFTs and VC-backed chains.

Origin and purpose

The concept appeared on forums such as BitcoinTalk, when users began to “invent” a coin purely as a joke. The idea gained traction from a post on May 23, 2011, with the provocation about “buttcoins,” a term that consolidated the humor around the topic.

With this, Buttcoin came to function as a cultural parody: more than technology, it documented and mocked episodes from the ecosystem, including mining problems and situations involving exchanges.

History and expansion of the satire

In just a few weeks, the joke evolved into Buttcoin.org, a parody blog that described a “peer to peer” butt economy. In the content, the focus was on recording market “failures” and “explosions,” as well as mentioning inventions humorously, including around models close to MLM.

Thus, Buttcoin became associated with the meme format: replicable, provocative, and aimed at keeping the good-humored criticism alive.

Today, Buttcoin connects to environments such as Solana Ecosystem and the Meme universe, reinforcing its identity as a Solana Meme. It also appears related to the Pump.fun Ecosystem, where memecoin culture tends to gain traction.
