BOLD (BOLD) is a dollar-pegged and fully redeemable stablecoin issued by the Liquity Protocol. In the DeFi ecosystem, it is used to settle loan payments, allowing users to set their own interest rates. The operation uses cryptoassets as collateral, including ETHm, wstETH, and rETH.

How BOLD works within Liquity

Loans in Liquity use BOLD as the asset to make payments within the protocol. Borrowers can set their own interest rates and take out loans against ETHm, wstETH, and rETH as collateral.

To maintain system security, loans must comply with a minimum collateral ratio of 110%. In addition, the coverage involves a Stability Pool that contains BOLD and also the participation of other borrowers as guarantors of last resort.

What BOLD is used for in practice

BOLD plays a direct role in the loan flow of the Liquity ecosystem. By allowing USD-linked redemptions and use in loan-related payments, it becomes a central component of the protocol's mechanics.

This structure is aimed at those who use DeFi with crypto collateral, operating through loans within the Liquity Protocol environment itself.
