Beta Finance (BETA) is a permissionless money market focused on lending, liquidity provision, and shorting crypto assets. In practice, it allows anyone to create a market for a specific asset at any time. This facilitates access to different strategies within the DeFi universe.

How the money market works

In Beta Finance, liquidity providers deposit tokens directly into the money market of the desired asset. The system also applies to the so-called long tail, including less common tokens that already exist in the crypto ecosystem.

For those who want to interact with different assets, the structure enables the creation and use of markets when the crypto asset pair is already available on the platform.

Loans, collateral, and flexibility

Borrowers can take out loans by providing ETH and/or stablecoin as collateral. This approach seeks to provide flexibility to access crypto assets even without already owning them, while maintaining current positions.

1-Click Shorting

Traders can also short sell any crypto asset using ETH and/or stablecoin as collateral. The protocol offers an integrated 1-Click Short feature to simplify the opening and management of positions.

Liquidation and incentives for liquidators

When positions become undercollateralized, liquidators can monitor and carry out the liquidation. The model allows these participants to receive a reward in the form of a bounty premium for the process.
