BounceBit USD (BBUSD) is a rebasing token designed to capture yields within the BounceBit Chain ecosystem. It operates as a position voucher, reflecting in its balance the yield generated by a linked strategy.

How rebasing and yield receipt work

BBUSD distributes yield via proportional balance increases, with a pro-rata rebase mechanism. This means that remuneration occurs through adjustments to the holder's balance, and not through changes to the price per token.

The token is issued when subscribing to a V3 vault and burned when a withdrawal occurs. In this way, each BB-token relates 1:1 to an active position in a specific vault or strategy.

Voucher semantics and link to the vault/strategy

In BounceBit USD, the role of the token is to represent a live position in a vault/strategy. The objective is to maintain the correspondence between the BB-token in circulation and the position it represents within the system.

The creation and destruction of the BB-token are restricted: only the vault or the strategy can mint or burn. The transfer of the token, however, occurs permissionlessly, allowing self-directed movement.

Composability in the crypto ecosystem

As a token that can be integrated with DeFi tools, BBUSD can be used in different scenarios, such as DEXs, money markets, perps, and staking. This integration favors the use of BBUSD within BounceBit Ecosystem applications.
