Cardano Ecossistema Coins: Cardano (ADA) prepares for hard fork Alonzo
The Cardano software platform has entered the third stage of its roadmap, the Basho era. It promises to improve network performance and scalability.
- Byron era - implementation of wallets
- Shelley – storage, multi-asset capacity and decentralization
- Goguen – smart contracts
- Basho – optimization and scalability
- Voltaire – governance
Cardano has been widely criticized for its slow start. Many people thought the platform was lagging behind, noting that it took a long time to deploy its first smart contract. However, Cardano Foundation CEO Frederik Gregaard argues that they take a careful approach to launching functions, with rigorous testing and peer review.
This time, the Basho stage launch report noted that they expect "periods of high demand, network congestion at times" but see this as part of the 'journey' and added that they will maintain a "considered safe approach".
Cardano Ecosystem Coins: BASHÔ
Cardano's Basho era is an era of optimization, improving network scalability and interoperability. While previous development eras focused on decentralization and new functionality, Basho aims to improve the underlying performance of the Cardano network to better support the growth and adoption of high transaction volume applications.
One of Basho's key developments will be the introduction of sidechains: new blockchains, interoperable with the main Cardano chain, with immense potential to extend the network's capabilities. Sidechains can be used as a sharding mechanism, shifting work from the main chain to a side chain to increase network capacity. They can also be used to introduce experimental features without affecting the security of the main blockchain.
Basho will also see the introduction of parallel accounting styles. While the main Cardano blockchain will continue to use a UTXO model, the ability to support and switch between UTXO and account-based models will be added using sidechains. The result will be greater interoperability for Cardano, as well as the ability to support new types of use cases on the network.
Overall, the Basho era will see Cardano become one of the highest performing, resilient and flexible blockchain platforms in the industry. This will provide a network infrastructure with the ability to scale sustainably and securely, as well as the ability to add new functionality without compromising reliability at the core of the network.
