What is Bitcoin CME Future?
Bitcoin futures contract CM extension, ticker symbol BTC, is a dollar-settled cash contract based on the CME CF Bitcoin Reference Rate (BRR), which serves as a daily reference rate of the price of bitcoin in US dollars. The BRR aggregates trade flow from major bitcoin spot exchanges during a one-hour calculation window on the US dollar price of a bitcoin starting at 16pm London time.
The Bitcoin futures contract is traded from Sunday to Friday from 17 pm to 16 pm central time (CT).
A single BTC contract has a value of five times the value of the BRR index and is quoted in US Dollars for one bitcoin. Tick increments are quoted in multiples of $5 per bitcoin, which means that one tick movement of BTC futures equals $25.
BTC futures are eligible for block trading with a minimum threshold of five contracts. BTC futures expire on the last Friday of the month and are listed on the closest six consecutive monthly contracts, including the closest two December contracts.
