Circle has announced the integration of native USDC and Cross-Chain Transmission Protocol (CCTP) on the Aptos blockchain, aiming to boost the development of decentralized applications (dApps) in sectors such as decentralized finance (DeFi), peer-to-peer payments, cross-border remittances, global commerce, and gaming. Aptos currently supports Ethereum’s bridged USDC, which has a circulation of over $140 million. The introduction of native USDC, along with CCTP, promises to enhance the blockchain’s DeFi connectivity and facilitate cross-chain asset transfers.

Bridge providers such as Stargate, built on LayerZero, will play a crucial role in the migration to native USDC on Aptos. AptosBridge, also built on LayerZero, will continue to operate without changes, although bridged USDC will be renamed to “lzUSDC” in block explorers. Ecosystem applications will be updated to reflect this change in their user interfaces and documentation.
In related news, CoinDesk reported that Stripe has expanded its products Aptos will bring cryptocurrencies to the platform, enabling merchants to move funds between traditional payment systems and blockchain networks. The payments company will also enable customers to convert fiat currencies into USDC using Aptos-powered crypto wallets.
The integration of native USDC into Aptos represents a significant step forward for blockchain, powering the creation of innovative dApps and strengthening the infrastructure for decentralized finance transactions. With support from bridge providers and adoption by companies like Stripe, Aptos is positioned to become a central hub in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, offering efficient and secure solutions for users and developers.
The transition from bridged USDC to native USDC on Aptos highlights the ongoing evolution of stablecoin solutions and the importance of protocols that facilitate interoperability between different blockchains. This shift not only simplifies transactions for users but also paves the way for broader adoption of decentralized applications across a variety of industries.
