The price of Bitcoin started the week falling after a stable weekend, tracking investors' reaction to the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. The leading cryptocurrency lost almost US$ 2 mil in the early hours of Monday, dropping to the US$ 62.400 region before posting a partial recovery.

At the time of publication, Bitcoin was trading slightly above US$ 63.000. Despite the recovery, its market capitalization fell to about US$ 1,265 trillion, while the coin's share of the cryptocurrency market edged up slightly to 56,7%, indicating that altcoins suffered even steeper losses.

The move interrupted a recovery sequence that began at the start of the month. After falling below US$ 58.000 on 1º de julho, BTC quickly moved back above US$ 60.000 and kept up the upward pace until reaching US$ 64.000 a few days later.

Afterward, strong selling pressure pushed the cryptocurrency to approximately US$ 61.200 within hours. Even so, the asset managed to react quickly and traded near US$ 64.400 again before a new wave of volatility hit the markets.

Pressure returned after the resumption of attacks between the United States and Iran, sending Bitcoin back to the US$ 61.600 range. In the following days, the cryptocurrency recovered part of the losses and reached US$ 64.600 on Saturday, recording its highest price in several weeks. The move, however, lost strength early this Monday as investor sentiment deteriorated.

Among the leading cryptocurrencies, Ethereum failed to break through the US$ 1.800 resistance and pulled back again. BNB also lost ground, trading near US$ 570, while XRP fell to US$ 1,07 before showing a slight recovery.

Other assets, such as DOGE, ZEC, XLM, HYPE, and RAIN, also posted moderate losses over the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, SOL and XMR managed to maintain small gains, going against the market's prevailing move.

Among the negative highlights, the Pi Network token renewed its all-time low again by falling to about US$ 0,086. Since the peak recorded last year, the asset has accumulated a decline of more than 97%.

The APX token also appeared among the day's biggest declines, retreating more than 25%. In the opposite direction, BEAT advanced about 20%, while DEXE extended recent gains and remained among the best-performing assets.

With pressure on Bitcoin and the main altcoins, the total cryptocurrency market capitalization shrank by more than US$ 20 bilhões over the last 24 hours, falling below US$ 2,24 trillion.
