In the last 24 hours, the cryptocurrency market faced a wave of liquidations totaling $336,84 million, according to data CoinGlass. More than 114 traders were affected, mostly by leveraged long positions that were forcibly closed after sharp price drops.

Ethereum was the main driver of the movement, accounting for more than $113 million in liquidations. This is nearly double the losses associated with Bitcoin, which recorded around $58,5 million. ETH’s dominance on the charts reinforces a common trend during bull cycles: the asset tends to momentarily outperform its peers and then correct sharply, negatively impacting traders with excessive long positions.
The correction also affected other cryptocurrencies, such as Solana and Dogecoin, with losses of $13 million and $10,75 million, respectively. Mid-cap crypto assets, such as XRP, SUI and PEPE, also saw significant liquidations, although less concentrated.
Among exchanges, Binance and Bybit led the way in liquidation volume, with $112,21 million and $110,25 million respectively, together accounting for two-thirds of forced closures. OKX and Gate.io followed closely behind, with $52 million and $34 million.
Most liquidations occurred in long positions, especially on BitMEX and Bybit, where more than 80% of liquidated orders were from traders betting on the rise. Bitfinex stood out from the others, registering liquidations mostly in short positions, suggesting a more cautious user profile with lower leverage.
The largest single liquidation on record was a $2,15 million BTCUSD perpetual position executed on Binance, which could indicate a poorly calibrated directional bet at a time of low volatility and high exposure.
