A prominent developer in the community Dogecoin (DOGE), with the pseudonym Mishaboar, recently ignited discussions related to the integration of the memecoin Dogecoin to be used in cryptocurrency payments on platform X.
Since Elon Musk purchased the social media platform in October 2022, several speculations have arisen in the cryptocurrency community about the integration of the memecoin DOGE into the X payment system. Commenting on the potential integration, Mishaboar focused his comments on the debate on course on the resource.
“Dear Dogecoin, with X's new payment agency receiving more licenses in the US, many are speculating about implementing crypto payments on the platform. Last year, Elon mentioned that the first phase of X Payments would not include crypto – not sure if that has changed now. Earlier this month, Elon said that X is very close to getting a money transmitting license in California. Getting a license in NY will still take a few months.”
A member of the DOGE community commented on the developer's post, stating: “I don't see why the first phase would include crypto. It would be cool, but in practice it would be fiat first and crypto second if things went well. It's best not to get your hopes up about speciation. Who knows".
Mishaboar responded to the comment by agreeing with the member: “I think you hit the nail on the head, that's what I think too. I hope that the cryptographic part of X payments will also come from some collaboration with some exchanges or brokerage platforms: but who knows? We will see".
